Operational sites that have been closed or have closure and rehabilitation plans in place
In 2022, two operational sites were closed at the ORLEN Group: a combustion waste landfill site at the Żerań CHP Plant (‘Myśliborska’, PGNiG TERMIKA S.A.) and a plugged production well (PGNiG Upstream Norway A.S.). Sites in the process of being closed were associated with the operations of EXALO Drilling S.A. – in 2022, the last cell of the Tailings Storage Facility in Wronów was being rehabilitated, and PGNiG TERMIKA S.A. – a combustion waste landfill site at the Siekierki Zawady CHP Plant was in the process of rehabilitation.

Financial provisions for closure and rehabilitation
In 2022, the ORLEN Group companies held the following total provisions for the planned closure and rehabilitation of operational sites, including post-closure monitoring and post-operational supervision: PLN 1,051,519,288. The amount included financial provisions for ground and water remediation, provisions recognised by companies for site restoration and rehabilitation of landfill site areas, as well as reserve funds established by administrative authorities or external institutions. The monetary value reported by the foreign companies in the euro (EUR) and the Czech koruna (CZK) has been expressed in the Polish złoty (PLN), translated at the average exchange rate quoted by the National Bank of Poland for 2022.

The provision for remediation of potential ground and water contamination at 15 fuel terminals amounts to PLN 45,935,567.59 (as at December 20th 2022).
